Playa Grande

Playa Grande is an amazing beach situated in Marino Las Baulas national park, north of Montezuma. Mangroves and coconut palms can be seen surrounding the beach. The north part of the beach has calmer waters which is perfect for swimming. The south part of the beach has stronger waves which is great for those who are fond of surfing.

Since Playa Grande is a protected place, visitors will not be able to see any hotels or other accommodations around the area. This allows the large Leatherback turtles to thrive in their own habitat. The beach serves as a nesting ground for these wonderful beings. Months between October and May are the perfect time for the turtles to lay their eggs. During this time, police strictly patrol the area to make sure that the turtles and their eggs are safe from overzealous tourists and poachers.

Plenty of different species of birds and mammals can also be seen in Playa Grande. Aside from the marvelous and exotic animals inhabiting the area, an astonishing waterfall can also be seen close to the jungle. Visitors and other tourists who are seeking adventure may hike in the jungle. For those who love kayaking, there is a big possibility that they will be able to get a glimpse of the crocodiles lying around the sandbanks of the beach.

Playa Grande is one of the few unspoiled places in Costa Rica. It is a great place to be in for those who love nature. It is a place for everyone to relax and to admire the beauty of nature.
