El Gouna

El Gouna, which literally means 'the lagoon', is a township located at the west coast of the Red Sea, north of Hurghada. It is a vibrant community with a splendid view of the sea and a backdrop of magnificent mountains. It has a 10 kilometer beachfront, where 18 hotels dominate. Interconnecting lagoons surround the island, hence the name El Gouna.

It is an ideal spot for diving, cruising and participating in watersports, which include waterskiing, kite-surfing, parasailing, snorkeling and windsurfing. The two primary beaches of El Gouna are the Mangroovy Beach, where watersports are popular, and the Zeytuna Beach, the best place to relax and also to party. There are also two golf courses in town, namely El Gouna Golf Course and Ancient Sands Golf Resort.
The town boasts of mouthwatering cuisine and lively nightlife. If you are interested in exploring the history of Egypt, you can visit the El Gouna Museum, which showcases 90 exhibits. The museum features statues and other ancient Egyptian objects' replicas. It was opened in 1996.
Another place to visit in El Gouna is the Fish and Fowl farm, where children of all ages get a chance to learn more about fish and birds. Tourists also like visiting Kafr El Gouna's Aqaurium, which houses vibrantly colored tropical fish and some baby crodcodiles.
