Bastimentos Island

Bastimentos Island is one of the largest islands in Panama. It is approximately 20 square miles in size. This large island is situated in Bocas del Toro District.

One of the most distinct places in the island is the Isla Bastimentos National Marine Park. The Marine Park covers a large portion of the island. Bastimentos is located at the most western part of the island. This particular part of the island is visible from Bocas town.

Just beside the Caribbean Sea is the north eastern most part of Bastimentos. This part of the island contains five beaches. These would include Red Frog Beach, Wizard Beach, Turtle Beach, Playa Larga, and North Beach. On the other hand, the south western most part of Bastimentos has a more dramatic setting. It contains a mangrove coastline, large rock faces, and long beaches. It would normally take tourists 15 minutes to get to Bastimentos's south side from Bocas Town. They may get there by riding a water taxi.
