Bakio Beach

Bakio Beach is located in Biscay's town of the same name. It is one of the longest and widest beaches on the Biscayan coastline. The beach has all types of facilities, leisure areas and a long promenade that runs alongside the beach, offering a magnificent view of the sea. The beach also provides an opportunity to practice different sports, such as surfing, canoeing or beach volley.

Bakio Beach is one of the famous places for surfing, as it has waves throughout the whole year. This is a beach with left and right-hand peaks, and three differentiated areas: the western area with a powerful right-hander and the central peak called El Callejon, and Penas Rojas, where you can find high-quality waves. This is an ideal place for beginners as well. There is a local club and two surf schools close to the beach.

Moreover, Bakio Beach is located near one of the most beautiful places of Cantabrian coast - San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, a hermitage dating back to the 10th century.
